Obertauern is situated at 1,750m and one of Austrias most exclusive ski destinations. Due to its high altitude, the snow conditions are second to none. Its situation on a mountain pass in the centre of the Tauern range has allowed a lift system to fan out directly from the centre of the village. There are 100 km of slopes, all of which can be enjoyed without ever having to take off your skis. In the Summer, the mountains provide a spectacular back drop for hikers and mountain bikers while the village boasts tennis courts, swimming pool, horse riding, fishing and spa. There is also an 18-hole and a 27-hole golfcourse within 30 min. drive. Situated just over an hour from Salzburg, development in Obertauern has been strictly controlled over the years with just a few families owning most of the land and the hotels.
