The skiing areas of Ski Amade are within reach: Flachau is only 5 min drive, so is Zauchensee. The skiing area of Obertauern is approx 25 min and Schladming will be 20min. Mühlbach with the Hochkönig skiing area is also 25min drive. The cross country skiing track is directly in front of the house. In the Thermal spa in Altenmarkt you can definitely go for a massage of go for a swim.
Altenmarkt is situated at the crossing of 2 valley which gives you a choice in where to go. Cycling and walking in the valley or in the mountains. Some excursions: the Liechensteinklamm in St Johann, the icecaves in Werfenweng, a visit to Salzburg or a daytrip to the lakes of Carinthia, it is all within reach. The closest airport is Salzburg, at approx 70km.
The property was built in 1977. Over the last years, several improvements have been done: the roof was renewed in 2007 and the heating was connected to the town heating system in 2010. This so called Fernheizung is an ecomonic and biological way of heating where waste wood is being burned at a central location in town and the heat is being transported to the connected properties.
